La Tasca
Spanish, Nottingham, United Kingdom
La Tasca offers wide range of tasty Spanish dishes, served promptly by helpful and friendly staff; although I probably wouldn’t go as far as quoting their website and say I thought I was on holiday in Spain! Their unique menu means you can spend as little or as much as you like. If you’re really indecisive (or can’t pronounce anything) you can simply opt for a selection of their most popular dishes. Desert here is an absolute must for any chocolate lovers! Décor was warm, colourful and tastefully festive. Great value for money; definitely well worth a visit.
Paradiso
Italian, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom
Xmas Eat Club comes but once a year, and therefore needs to be something special. Sadly our 'dedicated' service was far from that. When the food eventually arrived, the starters and mains were of high quality. Good things DO come to those who wait. Desserts were a bit of a mixed bag; the chocolate mousse was fantastic, the cheeseboard raised a few grins, but the cheesecake was disappointing. The décor was simple, but the odd table cloth and functioning Christmas lights would've been classier. Overall, the food was good value for the quality, shame the drinks didn’t follow suit.
Spice Cafe
Indian, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom
A good turnout for EC22 resulting in us being seated on 2 separate tables. Décor was simple with a hint of Indian; the service was a bit confused and very slow considering the place wasn’t full at the time. The Thursday night special offered a choice of selected starters and mains, coffee and some strange desert thing for £8.95. Mixed views on the quality of the dishes depending on what you ordered, the best advice is to be adventurous. A good place to eat if you live in Heaton, but venues closer to town have much more to offer.
Nando's
Portuguese, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom
After a brief confusion involving breasts, we were handed our numbered chicken and shown to our table (not a luxury for those who have previously visited, you just get the chicken). To say the starters were on the limited side would be a gross understatement, so we skipped straight to main courses. If you like chicken and chips, and Whetherspoons style of service, then this is the place for you! Reasonably good value for money, we went for two platters between four of us and were all well fed and watered for just under £10 a head. Décor, hmmm, rustic?
